After, leave your accommodation for a short city tour in Kigali and today, your focus will be the Kigali genocide memorial. At 6:00am, you will be picked up at the lodge and transfer to Volcanoes N/Park in Kinigi. At Kinigi, meet the park official for briefing about golden monkey tracking guidelines and allocation of park guides. At 8:00am, depart from Kinigi for actual search for golden monkey troop. Trekking through Volcanoes NP bamboo dominated area in search for a habituated troop of golden monkeys will last for 2-4 hours. This includes an hour of observing these apes closely but at recommended distance.

Begin walking back from the jungles and settle for lunch. Check out and you will have transfer road trip to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, crossing via Cyanika border to Kisoro town.

A delicious breakfast served to you at your respective lodges at Mgahinga and after, join others for briefing at Ntebeko reception. Today, expect to have insight into gorilla trekking guidelines from the park official. He or she will allocate the park ranger guide to accompany you on the search for Nyakagezi gorilla family –the only group that is fully opened for tourism in this park.

The trek to see gorillas will go for 2-6 hours but this may depend on your speed of walking, location of these apes and the general nature of the habitat. Once you have come across these species, expect to enjoy a maximum of an hour taking photos and observing how they behave in the wild.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and after, pack your luggage in your 4×4 safari car. Begin your drive from Mgahinga to Kibale National Park, Western Uganda and the long journey covers en-route lunch not forgetting the spectacular countryside. Kibale is where over 1500 chimpanzees all live in one habitat plus other 12 primate species. On arrival, you will check in at the lodge pre-booked by team from Engagi Safaris.

Wake up early and have breakfast. After, your driver guide will pick you up at the lodge and you will be transferred to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre. Depending on the location of your accommodation, you may just walk to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre especially if you have a night at Primate Lodge. Clear with authorities and then join others at the briefing area to learn the dos and don’ts to follow while on chimpanzee trek.

Trekking with Kibale chimps will take you 2-4 hours but includes an hour of up close and personal encounter with chimpanzee community. Interestingly, several other primates will be spotted plus birds thus enriching your chimpanzee trek beyond chimp encounter. After great interaction with chimps, begin walking back and settle at the lodge for lunch and also have some refreshments.

After lunch, check out of the lodge and next on your travel plan will be transfer to Entebbe city via Fort Portal tourism city-Mubende-Mityana route. On arrival at Entebbe, check in at Entebbe Victoria Rock Resort for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay (optional) or go direct to the airport.
