Uganda prides itself of 10 spectacular National Parks and several other tourist attractions/destinations. But as of 2024, the most rated tourist attractions/destinations in Uganda worth exploring include Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Mburo National Park.

Murchison Falls National Park is not only Uganda’s biggest park but also home to one of the world’s most powerful and scenic waterfalls –Murchison Falls. Extending up to 2840sq.km, Murchison Falls Park is most famous for its enriching game viewing experiences and is suitably lying in an area where you can also find rhinos in the wild (Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary).

Queen Elizabeth NP is Uganda’s most popular park, home to the rare tree climbing lions. Spanning over 1978sq.km, Queen Elizabeth NP shelters 4 of the big 5 game with exception of rhinos. This park is known for its huge profusion of wildlife, especially large herds of bush elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and also birds that account for 625 species.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an iconic destination in Africa where mountain gorillas survive from. Out of the 1063 mountain gorillas, about half of them all freely roam within the dense natural forest in Bwindi. This park is rated among the best places due to its exhilarating mountain gorilla trekking experiences, and also being the only destination that offers gorilla habituation experience.

Lake Mburo National Park, home to abundant impala population plus other fauna. This park is an excellent place for you to enjoy day & night game drives, boat cruise, cycling, horseback riding, and more.

Itinerary

Enjoy a delicious cup of tea/coffee at your respective hotel facility in Entebbe/Kampala city. After, meet your safari leader/driver guide who pick up and be ready to start your memorable road trip to Murchison Falls National Park.

Today’s journey takes the Northwestern circuit of Uganda via Kampala-Gulu highway. It will include an en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for you to embark on active walk with rhinos in the wild. Expect to have an in-depth learning about rhinos’ behaviors and taking pictures of them while in the natural environment.

Leave Ziwa for Masindi where lunch will be had. After lunch, cross to Murchison Falls Park- Uganda’s biggest park and also home to the world’s powerful falls. At Kichumbanyobo gate in the south, drive while spotting some amazing fauna. You will be checking in at the pre-booked accommodation for a night stay.

After an early morning breakfast, meet the driver guide for pick up at the lodge. Set off for an early morning game drive taking you via the Northern section of the park. The 2-3 game drive experience through this game track allows you see myriad of fauna including warthogs, Rothschild giraffes, bush elephants, oribis, hartebeest, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, and birds.

Return from your game drive experience and settle for lunch plus some refreshments at the lodge. End the day with a thrilling launch or boat cruise experience through the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. This comes with lots of surprising encounters like the Nile crocodiles, hippos, and water birds, etc.

At the base of the falls, take pictures and later, proceed with the trek to the top. This will be done provided that the water level is low and allows you to cross from the docking point to where the hike starts from. At the top of the falls, enjoy the breathtaking views of the falls as it forces itself into a narrow rock of 7-8m wide and later, you will get back to the lodge using your 4×4 rental car.

Following morning breakfast, get you bags ready and setoff headed to Kibale Forest National Park home to the endangered chimpanzees. The scenic drive through tea and banana plantations makes this journey more fun and interesting

Early in the morning have breakfast, get packed lunch and transfer to Kanyanchu visitor information Centre for registration and briefing on the rules of chimpanzee trekking experience. You will be grouped together with other clients and allocated a chimpanzee community to visit. The actual trek to see chimpanzees starts a 8:00am and can last for between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Kibale Forest National Park is the “Primate Capital of Africa” Sheltering the highest number of chimpanzees and several monkey species. The allowed time with chimpanzees is one hour from the time you meet them. In the afternoon, go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland to experience more of the natural environment and embrace nature. Have breakfast early morning and after, be ready for the long road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park –Uganda’s second largest park. Arrive in the afternoon, refresh and chill at your lodge. Alternatively, you can do an optional evening game drive to see wild animals feeding before retiring for the night

Lunch break will be had on arrival at Fort Portal city then you proceed to Queen Elizabeth Park via Kasese.

A hefty breakfast be enjoyed at the lodge and after, meet the driver guide for pick up and begin your exciting day game drive. Today, you will have the best of Kasenyi plains and expected sightings include buffaloes, spotted hyenas, bush elephants, antelopes, warthogs, lions, and on a lucky day- catch a glimpse of elusive leopards.

After the game drive from Kasenyi, you will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will go for Kazinga channel boat cruise. This is to let you enjoy sight of aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles and water birds plus other mammals that confine around the banks of the channel.

Having explore Queen Elizabeth National Park to the fullest, today you will have relaxed breakfast, check out and embark on the journey headed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive tales you through local villages and towns which gives you  chance to meet look people and learn more about their lifestyles.

Leave your respective lodges for briefing at the park offices. Get to understand gorilla trekking regulations and the park official will also allocate goril09 8i9la families during the same session. Following will be actual trek which begins at 8:00am and takes between 2 and 6 hours. On finding the family of these apes, enjoy an hour for up close and personal encounter then get back. In the evening, expect the best of Batwa cultural experience then dine and retire for the night.

Exit Bwindi NP for Lake Mburo N/Park and today’s journey comes with scenic views of Kigezi’s spectacularly breathtaking landscapes. Arrive at Lake Mburo Park early, settle for lunch then you will take part in the afternoon boat cruise. Lake Mburo boat cruise lets you sight hippos, crocodiles and water birds like kingfishers, saddle-billed storks, and more.

Set off early morning for a game drive and expect to come across sun risers plus other diverse mammal species.
